Who are We?

Clayton and I (Alison) have lived in the Ladysmith/Chemainus area for most of our lives. We have three great kids, the older two are currently living their own lives, one at VIU doing undergraduate studies, another one off becoming a rock star in Vancouver and the newest addition to our family Ms. Maria Rose who will be 3 in October. We truly love our community, our home and our Studio and we hope that you will join us here to explore your own personal yoga practice.

After many years of academic study, both in Canada and Europe, I settled with my family in our little town of Ladysmith which I now proudly call home. I care about this town and nothing brings me greater joy than to have my own studio here so that I can share the love I have found for this thing called yoga with you.

My personal path to yoga came through injury. After many years of pain, and finally a debilitating back injury, yoga was suggested as a way to begin the healing process. So I tried it. After my first gentle class, I knew that I had tapped into something truly divine. Slowly but surely, bringing movement back to my life through yoga, I found something that I always dreamed was out there: a way to take care of your physical body, your mind and your soul! I never looked back.

I am a certified RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance of Canada and certified with the BCRPA. I did my initial training with Feel Good Yoga Studio in Victoria led by the incredible Laura Phelps.  I am currently working on my 500 RYT certification with Semperviva Yoga studio in Vancouver and loving every moment of it. I have studied with Bernie Clark and Diana Batts for intensive Yin studies and embarking currently on Kundalini studies with Gloria Latham.   I am deeply committed to creating a safe atmosphere where students of every level can mindfully challenge themselves, accept their edge and celebrate their unique abilities. I bring humor and compassion to all of my classes. I also enjoy weaving symbolism and insight of the yogic traditions throughout.

I truly and passionately believe that yoga allows us to create an intimate connection to our bodies through breath and movement that can lead to a higher understanding of Self and, ultimately, a path to Joy.

I am also a certified Pilates teacher trained through the Physical Mind Institute of Canada in Fundamentals, Mat and Standing Pilates.

Brooke Mycroft

Brooke Mycroft bio

Brooke is a Ladysmith local who is active in the community and enjoys life here with her husband and 2 young daughters. She has practiced yoga on and off for many years.  Three years ago, after the death of her father, she began the agonizing process of working through her overwhelming grief and carry on.  She found her way back onto her mat and into Bliss Yoga Studio.  She is forever grateful for the safe space and compassionate teachers who helped her eventually find peace and a way to connect with body, mind and spirit.  The relief and healing that came after only a handful of classes inspired Brooke to sample more classes and make yoga part of her weekly self-care routine. Her journey has taught her that yoga can change lives and be a powerful and healthy antidote to the challenges and stresses of modern life.

She is a certified RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance of Canada.  She did her training at Feel Good Yoga Studio in Victoria with Laura Phelps.  With a BA in Dance, a BA in Sociology and a MSEd in Education, she is grateful to be back in the world of teaching here in Ladysmith.  She loves learning.  She loves teaching.  She loves yoga.  She loves teaching yoga!

She believes that yoga is truly for everyone.  She passionately believes yoga can and should be accessible to all bodies.  Her classes are safe, welcoming and offer moments of quiet for an inward spiritual practice.  She brings an open heart and joyful spirit to her teaching.

Skye Neufeld

Skye Neufeld

Skye began her personal yoga practice years ago, but deepened her practice after a near fatal motorcycle accident in 2008. She broke several bones and was told by medical professionals that because of her traumatic injuries she would have to work hard to recover and manage relentless chronic pain. She came to learn that yoga was an effective natural alternative to cope and overcome what she was faced with.

Naturally, she then developed a strong desire to share the benefits and healing powers of yoga and completed her 200 hour teacher training with Feel Good Yoga Studio in Victoria. She is a registered teacher with the Canadian Yoga Alliance of Canada and currently committed to an apprenticeship with Sandy Dillabaugh and Cathy Valentine, working towards my 300 hour Vijnana certificate.

Skye loves to focus her practice from the inside and encourages her students to listen to their own body. She raises her three beautiful children in the lovely seaside town of Crofton, she loves the island and takes advantage of every opportunity to get out and enjoy it’s beauty. She is looking forward to sharing a class with you soon!!
