Clayton and Alison Strom have lived in the Ladysmith/Chemainus area for most of their lives. They have three great kids, the older two are currently living their own lives, one working as a graphic designer, another one off becoming a rock star in Vancouver and the newest addition to their family, Maria Rose who is currently mastering kindergarten.
They truly love their community, their home and their Studio, and they hope that you will join them here to explore your own personal yoga practice.
Alison Green Strom
Owner/Operator Alison has lived most of her life here on Vancouver Island. After many years of academic study, both here in Canada and in Europe, she settled with her family in our little town of Ladysmith which she now proudly calls home. She cares about this town and the people in it so nothing brings her greater joy than to have her own Studio so that she can share the love she has found for this thing called yoga with you.
“My personal path to yoga came through injury. After many years of pain, and finally a debilitating back injury, yoga was suggested as a way to begin the healing process. So I tried it. After my first gentle class, I knew that I had tapped into something truly divine. Slowly but surely, bringing movement back to my life through yoga, I found something that I always dreamed was out there: a way to take care of your physical body, your mind and your soul! I never looked back.”
She is a certified RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance of Canada and certified with the BCRPA. She did her initial 300 hour training with Feel Good Yoga Studio in Victoria led by the incredible Laura Phelps. She is currently working on her 500 RYT certification with Semperviva Yoga Studio in Vancouver and loving every moment of it. She has completed intensive Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark and Diana Batts and is currently embarking on Kundalini studies with Gloria Latham. She is also certified in Back Mitra training having taken her Foundations Training and incredible Workshops with Sharon Abbodanza.
She is deeply committed to creating a safe atmosphere where students of every level can mindfully challenge themselves, accept their edge and celebrate their unique abilities. She brings humor and compassion to all of her classes. She also enjoys weaving symbolism and insight of the yogic traditions throughout.
Alison truly and passionately believes that yoga allows us to create an intimate connection to our bodies through breath and movement that can lead to a higher understanding of Self and, ultimately, a path to Joy.
She is also a certified Pilates teacher trained through the Physical Mind Institute of Canada in Fundamentals, Mat and Standing Pilates.
Brooke is a Ladysmith local who is active in the community and enjoys life here with her husband and 2 young daughters. She has practiced yoga on and off for many years. Three years ago, after the death of her father, she began the agonizing process of working through her overwhelming grief and carry on. She found her way back onto her mat and into Bliss Yoga Studio.
She is forever grateful for the safe space and compassionate teachers who helped her eventually find peace and a way to connect with body, mind and spirit. The relief and healing that came after only a handful of classes inspired Brooke to sample more classes and make yoga part of her weekly self-care routine. Her journey has taught her that yoga can change lives and be a powerful and healthy antidote to the challenges and stresses of modern life.
She is a certified RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance of Canada. She did her training at Feel Good Yoga Studio in Victoria with Laura Phelps.
